Travel in Argolis Ancient Site and Corinth Canal
Greece is decorated with beautiful temples and cities by Greek Gods. With 2 Day Travel in Argolis Ancient Site and Corinth Canal. Visit the Tomb of Agamemnon, and Epidauros.
Argolis tour is a mini package tour runs from to Athens. We visit west part of Greece in two days tour plan. Argolis tour includes Corinth Canal, Mycenea ancient site, Nauplion city.
- Starting Points: Greece/Athens
- Day 1 Corinth Canal, Saronic Gulf, Mycanea, The Tomb of Agamemnon, Nauplion
Today is the first day of your time travelling 2 day tour and we will start our journey with leaving by the Coastal road to the Corinth Canal, the Corinth Canal is a canal that connects the Gulf of Corinth to the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean sea. Its cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and in fact seperates the Peloponnese from the the mainland of Greece which makes the former peninsula an actual island, only narrow ships can pass through the canal so it is now only popular for tourism traffic and not so much of economic importance anymore. We will make a short stop at the Corinth Canal so you can fill up your cameras of the surrounding beauty.
Our first destination is to explore Mycenae which is known to be the Homeric City of Atreides, ‘’Rich in gold’’ of the ancient poetsand in the second millennium BC, Mycenae was one of the major centers of Greek civilization, a military stronghold which dominated much of southern Greece. Our time here will be spent by uncovering the famous Archaeological Site and of course the Tomb of Agamemnon. Mycenae was the main center of the Mycenaean world and gave its name to a period and a civilization that evolved throughout the entire Greek world between the 16th; 12th BC an deven spread to all the known sites of this period along the mediterranean coast.
As we reach the archaeological site we will have the chance to explore its wonders such as Complex Of Houses; here is also where the house of the oil Merchant lies, Tholos Tombs of Clytaemnestra, Aegisthus, and the Tholos Tomb of the Lions; The meaning of Tholos Tombs is that they are shaped into a style such as a beehive dome with the most famous Tholos Tomb been that of Agamemnon as its not only the largest in the world but also its the best preserved tomb of them all, it was constructed back in the Bronze age of around 1250 BC. Lions Gate is the main monumental entrance to the site and the name ‘Lions Gate’ comes from the 2 lions that are covering the lintel.
You will also get to see The Palace, North Gate and also the Cistern here plus much more that will leave you feeling like you are stood right there in the Ancient Greek times. We will have a stop here in Mycenae where we will enjoy in a delicious traditional Greek styled lunch which will tantalize your taste buds to the limit, after lunch we will get back on the road and make our way to our next destination which is the city of Nauplion, we shall take the route that leads us through the fertile plain of Argolis. As we reach our destination Nauplion you will be able to see the picturesque town that nestles at the foot of a cliff which is crowned by the mighty ramparts of the Palamidi Fortress which stands at a vast height of 216 meters, it was built by the Venetians back in 1711; 1714 and is indeed regarded as a masterpiece of military architecture.
You will have the whole afternoon free for your own leisure, it’s a perfect chance for you to get out and about and discover what you can of this beautiful town. We recommend that you take a visit not only to the Palamidi Fortress but also to the Bourtzi Fortress, itis famous for its strong and impressive structure, the word Bourtzi means Tower and this Tower was built back in 1471 on a tiny islet that is just in front of the port Nauplion, the design of this fortress was made specifically to fit the narrow shape of the island. As you walk around the fortress you will be at more peace and quiet with only the sounds of the crashing waves, don’t forget your cameras as it gives the best panoramic view of the coastline which is definitely something to remember! There is also the fascinating Church of Agios Spiridon which can be found in the Old Town of Nauplion, the church was first built in 1702 with financing from the Nauplion Brotherhood of Orthodox Greeks,it is a single space basilica with a dome and a bell tower thatb was constructed in 1853. The interior of the church is solemn and there are many Byzantine icons and paintings around the walls.
If you just want to spend your afternoon discovering just the town of Nauplion it is of course possible, this town used to be the Capital of Greece from 1829; 1834, this little town dates right back to Neolithic period and is also surrounded by the world heritage sites of Epidaurus and Mycenae. The intertwined cobbled streets that are filled with bars, restaurants and taverns all offering delicious local cuisine and excellent beverages are hot spots for tourists who come here to relish a glimpse of antiquity. There are also some eternal relics in the old town like the two Turkish mosques, the archeological museum, Agios Spiridonas Church, whose walls are still scarred by the bullet marks that killed Ioannis Kapodistrias the first Governor of the newly liberated country in 1828.
But if you really just want to spend the afternoon relaxing and getting recharged then why not head off to Psili Ammos beach it is just 12km from the captivating town of Nauplion, this picturesque fine sandy beach with undulating sand dunes and tamarisk trees that dot the landscape at intervals, is renowned for its relative serenity and its nearness to several breathtaking, deserted islands. Your overnight stay will be in Nauplion and as tomorrow comes it will be time to head onwards to our next destination.
- Day 2 Epidauros Asclepion: Epidauros Theater Epidauros Theater
Today is a new day and also the last day of your Ancient Greek Tour, which will begin with the morning been free for you to do as you wish for your own leisure so whether you want to have a cosy lie in or if you wanting to get out and about and make the most of your time here in Nauplion then you can! Nauplion has a few museums that are worth a visit such as the Archaeological Museum; It features fine exhibits over two light and airy floors. The oldest exhibits, fire middens, date from 32,000 BC. Another highlight is the only bronze armour from near Mycenae in existence, dating from the 12th to 13th centuries BC.
There is also the National Gallery;Alexandros Soutzos Museum that features works on the 1821 Greek War of Independence, including works by Greek painters Vryzakis and Tsokos that was considered to be the most important artists of the postwar years. By late morning we will head on the road to head for our next destination which is Epidauros which was a small city in Ancient Greeceat the Saronic Gulf. It’s here in Epidauros that we can see the Grand Theatre that brought a lot of prosperity and was designed by Polykleitos the Younger, back in the 4th century BC. It was originally built with 34 rows but went on to be extended in the Roman times by another 21 rows which meant it holds a large capacity of 15,000 people.
The theatre is marveled for its exceptional acoustics even a whisper can heard all the way round the audience, the rows of limestone seats filter out low frequency sounds such as the murmur of the crowd and amplify high
frequency sounds from the stage. This theatre truly is a piece of stunning architecture that the Greeks have good reason to be proud of it, it will most certainly stun you with its magnificence!
As the day comes to an end its time to leave the wonderous Epidaurus and make our way back to Athens, we will use the national road that connects Epidaurus to Corinth. We trust that your time with us has been excellent and that you have many lasting memories of your time exploring some of Ancient Greece and we hope to see you again on our of our many other tours in the future. After the ancient Greece cities tours we will turn back to Athens around 19:00 pm.

Great experience in Turkey and Greece!
We participated in the combined tour organization of Turkey and Greece and we had a wonderful experience. Gigil's employees always met our needs on this trip that I went on with my wife. We did not have any problems and we are very satisfied. We continued on our way with 6 different guides during the 16-day tour and we thank them all. Thanks gigil.

A Perfect Day in Turkey!
If you are going to Kusadasi, be sure to book with Gigil Travel. We spent 5 days in Rome, 12 days on a cruise, and 5 days in Venice and this was the best tour of all we did. The van price was reasonable and shared among 6 of us. We went to St. Mary’s home, Ephesus and had a wonderful lunch. We were concerned about visiting Turkey with the unrest we have had with them. We felt very safe. The town is very modern and clean. The area at the port was great for shopping and the prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend Eren and this tour!

Toured Ephesus with Harun
We had a wonderful tour of Ephesus with Harun, a well prepared guide who provided a terrific experience for our whole family (ranging in age from 10 to 77). Highly recommend Gigil tour company.

An amazing day in Ephesus with Gigil

Fabulous tour and great guide
A great tour and guide. Our guide Harun was very friendly and informative. It's well paced in a place where it would be easy to get bogged down in historical details. It provided the right balance of complete information with interesting information thrown in. Thoughtfully provided umbrellas for shade as you are really out in Ephesus and it can get quite hot. We especially liked his choice for a lunch break where we tasted many traditional Turkish dishes. . .

They respond quickly to email and chat. They can customize your trip and the best part is, our tour guide Işık speaks fluent English and knows a lot about the places you go. He also handles the tour well and lets you enjoy the trip. We also told him that we enjoyed taking photos and that he took notes on special spots for the photos. Finally, the journey will not be perfect without your transportation, a brand new mercedes benz minibus with our lovely driver who makes everything safe... I highly recommend this tour if you visit Ephesus! Thanks Haron!

Samsun is a great place!
Samsun was a city that I wanted to see for a long time and was finally possible to visit, and I saw with my own eyes that it was a wonderful place. It was also enjoyable to walk here in cold weather. We got on well with my guide and I was satisfied. I would also like to thank the organization company.

Great guide and beautiful Ephesus
We spent a day touring the ancient city of Ephesus and it was wonderful. Our guide Harun was great. He had a lot of knowledge and gave us plenty of time to see all the sights. We came to Kusadasi by ship and joined the tour from there. We did not book directly with Gigil but from our experience we would be happy to tour with them again.

Ancient Ruins Tour
Tour guides are known to love their job, they are knowledgeable and well-equipped. Harun, who guided us on the Ephesus Tour, makes the tour a pleasure with his communication and expression. Service vehicles, no disruptions to their schedules, are worth a try when you have an emergency. Unlike other tours, they carry out the tour program with fewer people and showing closer attention. We were very satisfied. Thanks to Mr. Harun and his team Gigil.

Increíble viaje a Éfeso

Gracias gigil...

Friendliness, punctuality, professionalism
We were in Turkey from October 20th to November 1st, they suggested several operators in this country but when I looked at the prices it looked high, they also forced us to coordinate the tour to start on a specific day. While surfing the internet, I came across Gigil Travel representative Eren, who exchanged a lot of questions from me and made explanations. There were no delays in transfers. All that was agreed was fulfilled. We enjoyed very much Istanbul, Antalya, Cappadocia, Pamukale and Kusadasi. Hotels in the interior of Turkey were real surprises!.. The guides accompanying us were very prepared and enthusiastic. Do not miss the balloon tour in Cappadocia, which is an unforgettable experience.

Definitivamente recomendado.

Turkey highlights package tour
Our tour started from Istanbul and then continued on the route of Izmir, Kusadasi, Ephesus, Pamukkale, Cappadocia. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Organization, guides and hotels were good. Our guides were kind and knowledgeable people. We would like to spend more time in Cappadocia. It's a great place! We will return to our country soon, but we want to come back to Turkey on holiday at the first opportunity. We would like to thank the gigil team for this beautiful organization. Good agency.
9 nights 10 days tour of Turkey
Great, can't recommend this company enough. We spent 9 nights and 10 days on a small group tour that started in Istanbul, Gallipoli. Kusadasi, Ephesus, Pamukkale, Cappadocia. We have stayed in great hotels and our guides are fantastic, their knowledge is outstanding, our health and safety are always the most important. Thanks again for our wonderful holiday and eternal memories of your beautiful country.
We wanted to have a Turkey travel experience with Gigil. Booking and all their responses were very quick. They organized a big trip and after we paid the deposit, they got back to us with a price reduction when one of their suppliers dropped the price. Unfortunately when we had to postpone the trip due to the Corona virus outbreak and again how well Gigil handled the situation. We highly recommend them. We did the tour on our new tour date and we were very satisfied with the Gigil team. You are awesome!

Istanbul and Antalya holidays
I visited a few cities in Turkey before, Istanbul was one of them, but Antalya was the place that touched my heart. Ephesus ancient city and istanbul tours
We came to Turkey to see Ephesus. When we saw it from the photos, we thought it was a great place and now we felt that historical texture alive. It is truly a breathtaking area. Terrace houses, the temple of the Virgin Mary, are a beautiful legacy for humanity. We would like to thank our guide gentleman for his interest. My husband and I had a very happy tour. We had a trip to Istanbul on the way back from Ephesus and in a word, Istanbul is a wonderful place. I would highly recommend those who will come to take a tour of the Bosphorus and eat fish.

14 Days Greece and Turkey Highlights Tour
I wanted to visit both Greece and Turkey and this tour was just for me. I enjoyed it immensely for 14 days. I especially benefited from the knowledge and experience of our guide Harun. Thank you to him. In general, the tour organization was very good. Despite the pandemic period, they were meticulous and concerned about service. They quickly fixed the problems and problems encountered. Although I have been to Istanbul many times before, I had not visited the historical places in detail. And now I'm very happy to be traveling. My words will not be enough to describe Cappadocia. Athens is a city of history that must be seen by everyone. It affected me a lot. My days in Santorini, Mykonos and Kusadasi were mostly spent resting and sunbathing. With this tour, I was able to both visit historical places and have a vacation. Thank you to the company for the organization.
they booked me a custom antiquity tour in Turkey that was amazing visiting Alexandria Troas and Assos. I consider myself a history buff but the guide blew me away. I walked the ground of Aristotle and St. Paul and Fredrick Barbarosa! Thank you Erin form GiGi travel for arranging.

Fethiye and Cappadocia Super Locations!
It was a wonderful holiday experience for us. We had a great week with my wife. After the magnificent atmosphere of Istanbul, we had the opportunity to visit historical places in Antalya and swim in its beautiful beaches. However, the place we enjoyed the most was Fethiye's hidden beaches and paragliding and Cappadocia balloon tour. Cappadocia is a truly fascinating place. It impressed us a lot and we had a great time with my wife. We would like to thank Ms. Eren who was with us throughout the tour. Even though we had some problems with the hotel and communication, they found a solution very quickly. He is very caring and kind person.
We were looking for a suitable city for a holiday with my family and we discovered Kusadasi. After doing some research about Kusadasi, we decided to come here. It has a very nice atmosphere, but it is also a region with incredible historical artifacts. Our guide was very knowledgeable and very kind. So thank you to the agency. Ephesus and the Virgin Mary is one of the places you should definitely go. After Kusadasi we will go to Pamukkale. Glad we came here. Excellent experience, I recommend it to everyone.

Greece and Turkey travel experience
During the e-mail traffic between me and the agency, I thought they are not professional until I complete my holiday that we shaped the itinerary with my experienced tour advisor. I wanna thank to all agency staff from beginning to the end, made my holiday an unforgettable memory for us. Especially the tour guide Polat in Istanbul and Eleni in Athens. Also Cappadocia and Olympia were charming historical places. Hot air balloon tour was a unique experience for us. A special thank to our consultant Vedat for a fully historical and local life experienced destination program. We definitely recommend gigil travel which we have got a nice travel experience with them.

Bunu gigil'in ekibi sayesinde öğrendim.
He was very energetic and informative and accommodated the needs of everyone in the group. Would definitely recommend!
